Councillor Candidate

Cinnamon Bhayani has been a strong force in our government for over 25 years. As a former Intelligence Officer with the Canada Border Services Agency, she interdicted multi-kilo drug shipments and interviewed known drug smugglers and suspected terrorists. Currently, Bhayani works as the Regulatory Compliance Officer with the Department of Finance, and participates in ample volunteer work.

Her current volunteer work includes being a member of the Vancouver Métis Community Association and the Urban Indigenous Peoples’ Advisory Committee where she was appointed by the Vancouver City Council. Bhayani takes great pride in her Metis Heritage and Catholic faith. In addition, her family is active in her husband’s Ismaili Muslim community.

Education is of great significance to Cinnamon. Successfully, she has completed a criminology degree from Simon Fraser University, the Executive Development Program at Columbia University, and the Postgraduate Certificate Program for Women in Leadership from Cornell University. This passion for knowledge is one she hopes to pass down to her children and put to good use as a City Councillor.

Civic service runs through Cinnamon’s veins. Her father served as a sheriff, instilling in his children a responsibility for their community. Bhayani hopes to continue his legacy and build a bright future for Vancouver.

Cinnamon lives in the Grandview-Woodland area with her two children, husband, and jack russell, Griffin.
