School Board Candidate
Rahul Aggarwal is running for School Board Trustee with the NPA. As a new dad, he is extremely passionate about making Vancouver’s school system world class.
As an immigrant who came to Canada as a teenager, Rahul understands education as a pathway to success. He became a Collaborative Family Law Lawyer after attending Langara College, then SFU and eventually the University of Sydney Law School.
Before attending Law School, Rahul had been active in the community by working as a Corrections Officer at Burnaby Youth Custody Centre. Through his role as a Corrections Officer, he gained valuable insight about the impact of education on children to young adults, particularly the role of education on indigenous youth.
Rahul understands every child learns at a different pace and in a different way. For example, some students need more support and others need greater challenges. As a School Board Trustee, Rahul’s top priorities would be returning the Honours Program, and the Police Liaison Program. He wants to provide a safe environment for students and their parents at all Vancouver schools while ensuring that we don’t put all children in a one-size-fits-all educational system.
Rahul has practiced and managed his own law firm in Vancouver for nearly a decade. Through his experiences, he understands that one common desire among all parents and guardians is for their children to remain safe and be well educated. As a lawyer, he has assisted parents and guardians who have children with diverse needs, including those from the LGBTQ+ community and racial minorities.
Outside of work, Rahul is a proud dad to a 3-year-old daughter, who will be attending public school in kindergarten. He is also an uncle to nieces and nephews who either attend or are about to attend public schools in Vancouver. He enjoys going to public parks including school playgrounds with his family.
